graphical objects can lead to great performance improvements in
the visualization of large figures, such as maps and CAD drawings.
We present here a study on the performance of persistent data
structures composed by an R-tree and V-trees, for storing and
efficiently retrieving 2D graphical objects. Results are shown to
demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed solutions when applied
                         to large maps.",
